Decluttering for Wellbeing

Environmental Stress

Environmental stress is the emotional, cognitive, and behavioural reaction to an external stimulus, such as a person's work, home or virtual environment.

As someone who is very sensitive to her environment, Hannah knows how stressful an untidy room, office or home can feel. Hannah is unable to fully relax in an untidy room and her productivity takes a nose dive at a cluttered desk. She also personally appreciates how comforting the right environment can be and how it can affect a person's mood.

An untidy environment can creep up on us when we are stressed and when we have a lot of demands on our time. It starts with a few items placed somewhere 'temporarily', but which actually never go on to find permanent homes. Those initial items then get added to and soon an entire area of the home has become cluttered, commonly referred to as a 'dumping ground'. It is self-perpetuating; stress contributes to a dis-ordered environment, the dis-ordered environment adds to stress levels, stress levels mean you are too tired and overwhelmed to tackle it. De-cluttering requires decision making. Stress affects our ability to make decisions, our attention span and focus as well as our overall energy levels.

Hannah helps you to re-create your environments so that they support you in the way you want to live.
